After a six-month search, the only data engineer on the team
A junior data engineer with less than a year of experience described a layoff followed by six months of searching. They had finally found another role, but the new job brought a different concern: they would be the only in-house data engineer.
The stack included Azure DevOps, Databricks and Snowflake, with Data Vault modelling. The author asked for practical advice on handling production work as a junior without another internal data engineer beside them.
This was a request for help at the start of the new role, rather than a report that the transition had already gone well.
