Same pay, lower pay, months between jobs: an uneven recovery thread
A Reddit discussion asked what software engineers laid off over the previous three years were doing next. The replies did not produce a single comeback story.
One person described being laid off as a fresher with six months of experience, finding another job at the same pay, and getting a larger increase after a later move. Another reported a layoff in April 2024 and a new job in August.
A commenter who moved from backend work into DevOps described an unpaid training period, living on savings in Gurgaon, and eventually liking the work despite lower take-home pay. Others were still searching.
